Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/30/2025 Duration: 16 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days, nights, rotating Employment Type: Travel Job Title: Registered Nurse – PCU (Surgical Oncology) Facility: Columbus, OH 43210 Contract Length: 13–16 weeks (Winter Contract – ends by 01/17/2026 preferred) Shifts: Night Shift: 3x12-Hour (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) / Day Shift: 3x12-Hour (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) Rotating Available Position Overview: Join a high-acuity Surgical Oncology Progressive Care Unit (PCU) delivering specialized care to patients undergoing complex surgical interventions. This unit is a fast-paced, mixed-acuity floor that supports both PCU and Med Surg-level patients. All permanent staff are PCU-trained, and travelers are expected to adapt quickly to a high-demand environment focused on quality outcomes and patient safety. Patient Population & Diagnoses: Patient Ages: Adults & Geriatrics Common Diagnoses: Surgical Oncology: Breast, thyroid, melanoma Hepatobiliary: Liver, pancreas, spleen, biliary tract cancers Colorectal: Colon, rectal cancers Plastics: Reconstructive surgery (oncology/sarcoma) Ortho and Cardiothoracic post-surgical care Key Responsibilities: Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a PCU environment Administer and monitor chemotherapy, insulin/heparin drips, blood transfusions, and IV antibiotics Respond to oncologic emergencies (e.g., cytokine release syndrome) Collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams: PT, RT, Pharmacy, IV Teams, Social Services, etc. Use Epic for charting and adhere to strict infection prevention and fall prevention protocols Float to other acute oncology units if required Required Experience & Skills: Minimum Experience: 2 years (Required PCU experience) Charting System: Epic (required) Certifications: BLS (Required) ACLS (Required) NIHSS (Required) ONS Chemo (Preferred) Special Skills: Chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac) External CPAP/BiPAP Tracheostomy management Dysrhythmia interpretation and management Telemetry monitoring Management of surgical drains, insulin/heparin drips About HonorVet Technologies HonorVet Technologies: Pioneering Purpose, Empowering Heroes Founded in 2015, HonorVet Technologies stands as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) , proudly certified by NaVOBA and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs .
