General Summary:

The Assistant Director of Finance is responsible for planning, directing, organizing, and leading financial operations and programs for the City.

Responsibilities

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Reports to the Senior Director of Administrative Services and supervises full-time and temporary staff.
  • Leads in budget development and administers the annual Citywide budget and mid-year budget process; prepares cost and fee estimates for budget recommendations; monitors and approves expenditures.
  • Prepares and oversees budgets for assigned projects and programs; develops fiscal strategies for effective use of funds; ensures compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Oversees the Citys Procurement activities, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and guidelines while maintaining high customer service standards and timely project completion.
  • Manages the annual audit process and the preparation of financial statements.
  • Provides day-to-day leadership to maintain a high-performance, customer service-oriented work environment that supports City and departmental goals.
  • Applies best practices and quality assurance processes to assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Enforces the maintenance of safe working conditions and ensures safe work practices are followed by staff.
  • Provides leadership to ensure a fair and open work environment in accordance with the City's commitment to equal employment opportunity.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field, and/or five (5) years of experience with at least 3 years of supervisory experience.
