Brixey & Meyer, a leading Regional CPA and Business Advisory firm, is spearheading this confidential search for a Controller to join a local building and repair business located on the east side of Tampa, Florida. This company is backed by a Private Equity firm that anticipates holding it indefinitely.
The Controller will lead the finance and accounting operations and partner closely with executive leadership. This hands-on role is vital in strengthening financial infrastructure, reducing balance sheet risk, and ensuring timely and accurate reporting. The ideal candidate will bring deep accounting expertise, including inventory accounting, revenue recognition, and percentage-of-completion methodology. A systems-oriented mindset, strong FP&A capabilities, and process improvement lens are essential. This leader will oversee all core finance functions, including journal entries, forecasting, budgeting, and M&A integration, while guiding and developing a high-performing team.

Your Responsibilities:
As a Controller, you will:
- Own the Finance Function : Direct general accounting, AR/AP, payroll, taxes, cash management, inventory, and regulatory reportingensuring GAAP compliance and rock-solid internal controls
- Drive Insightful Reporting : Deliver timely monthly financial statements, analyze trends, and present clear KPI dashboards that power strategic decisions
- Lead Planning & Forecasting : Build annual budgets and rolling forecasts; model scenarios that balance growth, liquidity, and leverage
- Be the Banking & Audit Liaison : Manage lender relationships, credit facilities, and audits; provide accurate, on-time reports to banks, insurers, and regulators
- Integrate Acquisitions : Champion financial due diligence and seamlessly merge add-on acquisitions into our ERP and reporting framework
- Elevate the Team : Hire, coach, and inspire accounting staffinstilling a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement
Your Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you need:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- CPA (or an equivalent combination of related experience and education) (preferred)
- 8+ years in a senior accounting or financial management role (preferred)
- Track record securing credit lines, optimizing cash flow, and integrating acquisitions
- Deep ERP expertise and mastery of GAAP
- Proven leadership with exceptional communication and analytical skills
- Hands-on, self-directed styleequally comfortable in the weeds and the boardroom
