Quality Control Manager - Kiewit Power Constructors

We are looking for a Quality Control Manager (Welding/Mechanical/Structural) to join our team. This role also requires someone who can work well with the project team and client personnel, communicate effectively, and handle various tasks efficiently. The ideal candidate should have a mindset focused on continuous improvement and quality control.

Kiewit Power Constructors provides direct-hire construction services for Power Generation utilizing a union craft force. Kiewit Power Constructors builds major EPC power plant and solar farm projects throughout North America.

This role will be based out of our office in Lenexa, KS, but will have temporary assignment locations. Active projects in PA, IN, MS, CO, NE, etc.

Responsibilities include visually inspecting piping and structural welds, welder testing, coordinating third-party NDE testing, reviewing and logging NDE reports, implementing project-specific inspection and test plans, reviewing and approving subcontractor inspection and test plans, interpreting and implementing quality standards and regulatory requirements, collaborating with district quality management for consistent implementation, performing receiving inspection, in process and final inspection, coordinating with operations to schedule quality inspections and tests to maintain production goals, verifying inspection and test compliance with the applicable contract documents, codes and standards, correctly interpreting and utilizing codes and industry standards to determine compliance of the work, preparing full data reports and interfacing with regulatory authorities, participating in operation planning sessions, preparing welding mapping and doing welding inspections, conducting measurement and testing using calibrated equipment, ensuring all quality documentation is completed and organized, presenting at meetings to communicate quality expectations and discuss issues, and performing other duties as assigned. Understand and respond appropriately to all safety hazards and warning devices.

Qualifications include 5+ years of experience in weld inspection, a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, strong organizational and time management skills, ability to access all points of a construction site, willingness to travel and relocate as needed. Other requirements include regular, reliable attendance, working productively and meeting deadlines timely, communicating and interacting effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment, performing work safely and effectively, understanding and following oral and written instructions, working during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines, working overtime and weekends as required. May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
