Job Description
Our client, a dynamic and mission-driven medical center in Brooklyn, is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the organization's financial strategy and operations during a pivotal period of growth. As the organization executes a bold five-year plan to grow by $18-$20 million, the CFO will serve as a key strategic partner to the executive team and board.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Financial Planning:
  • Developing and implementing financial strategies, budgets, and forecasts that align with the organization's mission and goals. Financial Management:
  • Overseeing all financial activities, including accounting, investments, and cash flow, ensuring accurate and timely reporting. Compliance and Risk Management:
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations and laws, and implementing risk management strategies to protect the organization's assets.
  • Developing and managing the organization's annual budget, ensuring it aligns with strategic priorities and supports operational needs. Fundraising and Grant Management:
  • Working with the development team to manage fundraising efforts, grant applications, and donor reporting. Stakeholder Communication: Communicating financial status and updates to the board of directors, donors, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Risk Management:
  • Identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks, including potential fraud, embezzlement, or mismanagement. Internal Controls:
  • Implementing and maintaining strong internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets and ensure financial integrity.

Competencies
  • Understanding of Health Care Organization Operations
  • Proven management, supervisory, and leadership skills to develop, coach, motivate, and manage staff effectively.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and strategic planning skills, with expertise in financial analysis, data-driven methodologies, and trend identification.
  • Proficiency in database and accounting software systems, with substantial budget acumen and financial expertise.
  • Advanced knowledge of risk management, including the ability to assess, mitigate, and implement strategies to manage financial risks effectively.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement through business process re-engineering, innovative technology, and organizational change management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory compliance and governance, ensuring adherence to laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and collaboration skills for effective communication and teamwork with stakeholders.
  • High integrity and ethical standards, emphasizing confidentiality, honesty, and alignment with organizational values.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
  • CPA preferred.
  • 8-10 years of senior financial leadership experience.
