Fleet Manager
MCS is hiring for a Fleet Manager in Tampa, FL. This is a full-time, permanent position with benefits. 1-3 years of experience in service coordination, dispatching, or administrative roles (preferably in Low Voltage, electrical, or a related industry) is required for consideration. A fleet manager is a logistics expert. The job requires using a fleet tracking system to ensure maximum operational efficiency of the company. They spearhead the fleet management workflow, to improve strategies, policies, and procedures, for the fleet of vehicles that are employed by the company. From recruiting certified quality drivers to maintaining all the documents and records of the fleet or vehicle, fleet management as a profession is multi-faceted in nature. The role requires great organizational and quantitative skills.
Typical duties include:
- Assist in the recruitment and management of drivers
- Track and update the vehicle management system
- Monitor the documentation and records of the vehicles, especially areas related to the inspections, certifications, and servicing
- Ensure optimal vehicle management by conducting proper repairs of the fleet
- Partake in budgeting and maintaining the costs for proper fleet management
- Manage the logistics fleet management aspects of the vehicle
Required:
Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience Requirements:
- 1-3 years of experience in service coordination, dispatching, or administrative roles (preferably in Low Voltage, electrical, or a related industry).
- Strong proficiency in ticketing systems and accounting software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Familiarity with Low Voltage, security, fire alarm, or electrical services is a plus.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
Objectives of this role:
- Devise fleet management strategies for the company, and ensure its timely execution
- Ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the fleet management system in place, and make changes to improve the same
- Use KPIs for the supply-chain network and ensure that the return on investment is maximized
- Monitor and update all kinds of records of fleet tracking systems
- Adhere to national, regional and company-wide rules and regulations while performing fleet management services
- Oversee the repairs and maintenance of the vehicles by devising a sound vehicle management system
Your tasks:
- Manage the A-Z of the logistics for the fleet, from GPS tracking for fleet trucks to fleet administration and servicing of the carriers or vehicles
- Conduct periodic surveys and inspections of the vehicles and ensure that they are up to par to maximize productivity
- Monitor the compliance, quality control and assurance standards for all areas of fleet management
- Maintain proper documentation and records for all the areas of fleet activities
- Schedule regular vehicle management and maintenance checkups
- Manage the drivers and their job roles, and ensure that they stick to the rules and regulations set in place by the company
- Ensure maximum fuel efficiency through effective fuel management, which in turn increases the profits of the business
Required skills and qualifications:
- Prior experience working as a fleet manager, logistics manager or in a similar job role
- Valid driver's license to operate different modes of fleet
- In-depth knowledge of the transportation industry and its current trends
- Proficiency in using computerized fleet management software/tools
- Outstanding analytical, decision-making and leadership skills
- Good communication skills
Preferred skills and qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in logistics, supply-chain management, or a similar discipline
- Expertise in budgeting and cost control
- Knowledge of fleet servicing, fleet scheduling, fleet analysis, and operations
- Solid customer service skills
