Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med/Surg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 18 months Med/Tele RN experience required License: Active RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Post-operative care, Orthopedic experience, TPN, PPN, general Med/Tele skills, and ability to manage cardiac drips Description: The Registered Nurse will focus on providing high-quality care to patients in the Medical/Surgical and Telemetry unit. The patient population may include those with general medical/surgical needs such as stroke, CHF, COPD, respiratory illnesses, diabetes, post-surgical recovery, and behavioral health issues. The average patient census is 22 with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6, which may increase during surge staffing. Skills required include stroke experience, NIH assessments, chest tube management, IV starts, trach care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, NGT placement, and drain/tube management. The RN will also manage PCA pumps and perform wound care as needed. Medication management will include cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and intravenous fluids. Support within the department includes CNAs and a resource nurse as staffing allows. Traveling nurses may be required to float to other units and facilities as needed, within their scope of practice. The unit utilizes EMR and various medical equipment including IV pumps and monitors. Weekend rotations are required every other weekend, and travelers should expect to work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off are allowed up to 6 days, excluding holidays, which must be added to the end of the contract.
