NICU RN Job Details
- Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1830 - $1960
- Assignment Length: 18-26 weeks (Winter Contract)
- Start Date: September 22, 2025
- End Date: January 26, 2026
- Shift: Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (07:30 - 20:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
- Holiday Coverage: Required as scheduled; traveler may request one major holiday off
- Floating: Required to Mother/Baby and Labor & Delivery units as Newborn Assessment Nurse
- Unit: Level III NICU, 16 beds, average daily census of 10
- Patient Ratio: 1:3-4
- Patient Age Range: Neonates (from 23 weeks gestational age)
- Location: Upper Marlboro, Maryland - ideal for nurses seeking Maryland healthcare jobs near Washington, DC
- Minimum 2 years of recent NICU RN experience (first-time travel nurses considered, but not preferred)
- Active Maryland or Compact Registered Nurse license required at time of submission
- BLS (AHA), NRP (AAP or NRP), and STABLE certifications required
- Experience with Epic charting system preferred
- Ability to float to Mother/Baby and Labor & Delivery units
- Two professional references from recent employers (one supervisor/manager and one charge RN)
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- Local candidates must reside at least 50 miles from facility
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to neonates in a Level III NICU environment
- Perform specialized neonatal procedures: intubation, mechanical ventilation, NIPPV/CPAP/Bubble CPAP, central line management (UA/UV/PICC), PIV, gavage feeding, circumcision, and phototherapy
- Care for patients from 23 weeks gestational age and up
- Float to Mother/Baby and Labor & Delivery units as needed, including serving as Newborn Assessment Nurse
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Epic (preferred)
- Comply with all hospital policies and healthcare compliance requirements
