We are looking for a talented and detail-oriented Rotational Engineer - Design to be based in Plainville, Connecticut, to join our New Product Development Engineering Team for Commercial Vehicle Products. This role is responsible for the design and development of mechanical switches and control components used in heavy-duty trucks, buses, and off-highway vehicles. The engineer will use PTC Creo to create robust, manufacturable designs and will also lead root cause analysis of test failures to ensure product reliability and compliance with industry standards.
About Your Role:
- Design and develop mechanical switches, control modules, and interface components for commercial vehicle applications using PTC Creo.
- Generate 3D models, detailed drawings, and BOMs in accordance with industry and company standards.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers, test engineers, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Conduct design validation and support product testing for vibration, thermal, ingress protection (IP), and durability requirements specific to commercial vehicles.
- Analyze test failures and lead root cause investigations, implementing corrective actions and design improvements.
- Ensure designs meet regulatory, environmental, and customer-specific requirements (e.g., SAE, ISO, OEM specs).
- Support prototype builds, supplier reviews, and production launch activities.
- Apply DFM/DFA, GD&T, and FMEA principles to ensure high-quality, cost-effective designs.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Proficiency in PTC Creo for 3D modeling, assemblies, simulation, and 2D drafting.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, plastics and metals, and manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, stamping).
- Familiarity with design for automation and mass production.
- Experience with product testing, failure analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Familiarity with vehicle environmental testing standards (e.g., thermal cycling, vibration, IP ratings).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with LIN/CAN-based control systems or electromechanical interfaces.
- Knowledge of commercial vehicle OEM requirements and validation processes.
- Familiarity with PLM systems and engineering change management.

Salary Range:
$55,900 - $83,140
