Description Must be bilingual in Spanish/English and have at least one year of experience as an attorney in family, removal, and immigration legal defense to be considered for this position.
Our law firm is seeking a motivated attorney to join our team. The successful candidate will assist in providing legal counsel to clients, working closely with senior attorneys, conducting legal research, drafting documents, and managing client files. Recent law school graduates with excellent communication skills and a passion for immigration law are encouraged to apply.
Position Details Location: San Jose office
This role initially offers a contract position with the potential to become a permanent associate Immigration Attorney based on performance.
Responsibilities
Represent clients before DHS, EOIR, and DOS in various immigration matters including family immigration, naturalization, U visa, asylum, waivers, VAWA, and provisional waivers.
Represent clients in Immigration Courts and BIA in removal defense, relief applications, and related proceedings.
Prepare legal documents such as declarations, briefs, and correspondence.
Conduct client intake and consultations, appearing with clients before USCIS and Immigration Courts in California.
Maintain accurate client case reports.
Participate in community outreach and know-your-rights meetings.
Assist in legal analysis, client advising, and negotiation.
Organize and maintain client files and documentation.
Draft pleadings, motions, affidavits, and settlement agreements.
Attend legal proceedings, perform legal research, and collaborate with senior attorneys.
Qualifications
J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and current Bar membership (preferably California).
Minimum one year of experience in family, removal, and immigration legal defense.
Bilingual in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
Commitment to immigrant and civil rights issues.
Excellent interpersonal, advocacy, and communication skills.
Strong organizational skills to handle a busy caseload.
Proficiency in immigration platforms like INSZoom is a plus.
Active ABA membership preferred.
Successful completion of the state bar exam required.
Compensation $75,000 - $90,000 annually
