General Summary: The Staff Psychologist and Coordinator of Clinical Training within University Health Services will provide high-quality, time-effective, evidence-based and culturally responsive clinical services, including triage; emergency and crisis intervention services; referrals and evaluations; as well as individual and group counseling and psychotherapy. The incumbent will also provide consultation to faculty and staff and outreach to the campus community. They will manage a caseload serving students appropriate for services at the Counseling Center, and will make timely and appropriate mental health referrals. Additionally, they will lead the Counseling Center's Clinical Practicum and Advanced Clinical Practicum, acting as liaison with graduate programs, overseeing training manuals, orientation, and evaluations.

Examples of Duties:

Provide evidence-based, culturally responsive clinical services including triage, crisis intervention, referral, and counseling.

Maintain clinical records and participate in quality management activities.

Manage a caseload to serve the maximum number of students appropriate for services.

Consult and refer students to other professionals or departments as needed.

Serve as a resource for faculty and staff regarding counseling services and collaborate on student interventions.

Conduct culturally responsive outreach and develop programming to meet student needs.

Liaise with university personnel to support student well-being.

Maintain statistical records and submit reports as required.

Provide emergency or triage coverage as needed.

Keep current with clinical practices and supervise trainees as needed.

Update training manuals and serve as the point person for trainee placements.

Oversee evaluations of practicum programs and facilitate trainee orientation and supervision.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Earned doctorate from an APA-accredited program in counseling or clinical psychology, licensed or license-eligible as a psychologist and certified health service provider in Massachusetts, with 3-5 years of experience providing evidence-based, culturally responsive crisis intervention and treatment, especially with underserved populations. Some extended hours may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in college or university counseling centers and continuum of care.

Proficiency in a second language.

Specialty training relevant to UMass Boston students.

Experience with commuter students and residential life.

Involvement in retention efforts.

Experience in clinician training and accreditation processes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience in suicide/homicide risk assessment and crisis intervention.

Ability to deliver high-quality, culturally responsive evaluation and treatment.

Experience serving underserved populations.

Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Proficiency with electronic medical records and office software.

Ability to relate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a challenging caseload.

Commitment to teamwork and best practices.
