Reporting to the VP of Software Engineering, the Software Engineer in Test II will take ownership of executing comprehensive testing efforts across web, mobile, and API layers, ensuring functionality, usability, and overall quality. This role will collaborate in the design, development, and integration of automated test frameworks and test cases across various platforms. The Software Engineer in Test II will work cross-functionally with developers and the QA team to ensure the delivery of high-quality software in an agile environment. Responsibilities include testing customer-facing portals, mobile applications, cloud-hosted services, APIs, and backend data systems. The role requires troubleshooting, assisting others, and embodying excellent customer service along with the company's core values, culture, policies, and procedures.
Essential Job Functions:
Execute exploratory, regression, smoke, and functional manual tests across web, mobile, and/or API layers.
Communicate testing strategies, issues, and results effectively with cross-functional teams including developers, product owners, and stakeholders.
Create and maintain detailed manual test cases, plans, and data.
Perform end-to-end testing to validate UI/UX quality, usability, and accessibility.
Identify gaps in manual and automated coverage and address them proactively.
Operate in environments where manual testing is essential, while building automation for scalability.
Design, write, and maintain automated test scripts to ensure high test coverage.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
Collaborate with teams to implement test strategies ensuring coverage meets requirements.
Debug and troubleshoot failed test cases and scripts.
Support selection and implementation of automation frameworks and tools.
Participate in code reviews and assist junior team members.
Continuously improve test coverage and automation reliability.
Participate in Agile ceremonies, contributing quality insights.
Analyze and report test results for release readiness.
Apply testing techniques to uncover defects and edge cases.
Job Qualifications / Skill Requirements:
45 years of experience in automation and manual testing strategies.
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field; certifications like ISTQB are a plus.
Effective communication of testing strategies and issues.
Proficient in writing and maintaining automated test scripts for UI, API, Mobile, and backend systems.
Experience with CI/CD systems and automation tools like Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium.
Experience testing mobile apps (iOS/Android) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
Solid understanding of programming/scripting languages such as JSON, C#, SQL, HTML, CSS.
Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
Knowledge of version control systems and defect/test management tools.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and quality focus.
Experience with test management tools like Azure DevOps.
This is a hybrid position, offering flexible remote and in-office work based on team needs and management discretion.
