Quality Technician I/II - 2nd or 3rd Shift
Focus on sustaining quality control activities in the Baraboo, Wisconsin Pultrusion Plant. Verify that quality standards are effectively being used to detect and address non-conforming product to protect the Andersen Brand. Primary Responsibilities: Perform finished product audit of production lines and communicate results and expectations to the line to address. Verify quality control standards and measurement equipment/methods are being used by operators to detect and address non-conforming parts/products. Provide daily checks of processes to ensure operating in defined ranges, verify measurement data/routines and reactions to checked data. Assist in providing specification reviews, and assist in containment of non-conforming parts. Coordinate getting gauges/measurement devices cycled through the calibration process. Gather information to initiate corrective actions requests for supplied or fabricated parts and assist in 5 Why / 4 Step Problem Solving to address. Define and implement robust process controls/error proofing solutions that ensure product conforms to specification and performance standards. Develop basic prototypes and fixtures by carrying out concepts developed by others. Work to establish process capability, validate new and current equipment, and identify continuous improvements efforts. Train production employees on quality standards. 80%+ of time spent in production areas. Skills / Certifications: Familiar with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for data entry, editing of documentation for shop floor, and summarizing data/findings. Experience with aesthetic specifications and using visual standards. Use of 5 Why and other Problem-Solving techniques. Knowledge of Window & Door Quality specifications preferred. Able to lookup drawings and specifications with ability to interpret required measurements from dimensioned prints. Intermediate math aptitude. Experience using measurement equipment, CMM, Smartscope, etc preferred. Ability to summarize data and findings and present out results. Qualifications and Skills: 2- or 4-year degree in Technology/Engineering or equivalent experience preferred. 2-5 years of Quality/Manufacturing experience, preferably in window and door industry. Basic knowledge of quality and lean manufacturing principles. Basic knowledge of quality systems, SPC and process capability. Strong aptitude in process improvement and problem solving.
