Job Description Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Profession: Respiratory Therapist Specialty: CardioPulmonary Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: 2 years preferred License: Active Respiratory Therapist license required Certifications: BLS, NRP, PALS required Must-Have: RRT preferred

Description: Assists with patient goals and needs by providing quality care. Conducts pulmonary function tests and interprets evaluations and test results. Determines respiratory therapy treatment plans in consultation with the physician. Administers medicated inhalants and operates mechanical ventilators and BIPAP therapy. Handles therapeutic gas administration and conducts cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. Performs broncho-pulmonary drainage and assists with breathing exercises. Monitors physiological and clinical responses to therapy such as vital signs and clinical appearance. Is present for newborn deliveries and C-sections, assessing the newborn and providing appropriate interventions when needed. Assists in discharge planning by consulting with healthcare professionals. Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Ensures proper operation of equipment through pre-test calibrations and maintenance requirements. Troubleshoots malfunctions and calls for repairs when needed. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending training programs, workshops, and reviewing professional publications. Complies with legal and certification requirements by studying existing and new legislation. Anticipates future legislation and enforces adherence to requirements. Demonstrates a friendly and compassionate bedside manner. Works well independently but also collaborates effectively as part of a team. Communicates well with other healthcare professionals, patients, and their families. Creates a safe and effective environment by practicing infection control. Exhibits sound clinical judgment and a good knowledge of respiratory diseases and conditions. Maintains patient confidentiality.
