Dental Assistant - Pediatric Residency

This position performs chair-side dental assisting in a dental pediatric resident clinic. Duties: Provides chair side dental assistance, prepares and sterilizes equipment. Document patient care. Takes and develops dental radiographs (x-rays). May provide administrative assistance. Assists the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures to include but not limited to placement of bases and liners and placement and removal of rubber dams, insertion, finishing, and removal of temporary restorations. Prepares set-up trays for anesthetic, operative, prosthetic, periodontal, prophylactic, endodontic, and orthodontic dentistry. Prepares dental equipment and materials for treatment. Performs patient charting as instructed by the dentist. Follows infection control protocol and prepares and sterilizes instruments and equipment. Greets patient and gets them situated in the treatment room. Provides patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures. Takes impressions of patient's teeth for study casts (models of teeth). May perform office management tasks that often require the use of a personal computer. Schedules appointments, answers phones, data entry, and orders supplies. Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the functions of the position.
