Job Description Job Title: Infection Preventionist Job Specialty: Nursing - Infection Prevention Job Duration: Shift: Day - 12x3 - 07AM - 07PM - 36 Hours Guaranteed Hours: Experience: Minimum 3 years of acute care/infection control experience and/or data collection and performance improvement/risk management experience License: Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field (Nursing, Public Health, Epidemiology, Microbiology, or similar) Certifications: Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required within 6 months of hire or when qualified to take the examination, Basic Life Support (BLS) current within 3 months of hire and biannually thereafter Must-Have: Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred, Master's in a healthcare-related field (MPH, MSN) preferred Job Description: - Develop, implement, maintain, and update the Infection Prevention and Control Plan and Program according to regulatory agencies and best practices. - Write, approve, and implement policies and procedures supporting the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) program and initiatives based on guidelines from recognized organizations. - Collect, trend, prepare, and maintain infection control data and statistical reports, and provide appropriate reports to relevant regulatory agencies. - Serve as a subject-matter expert for Infection Prevention and Control, facilitating education and training for staff, patients, families, and communities. - Maintain strong working relationships with Public Health and other entities to ensure dissemination of up-to-date information. - Conduct new and annual employee IPC orientation and training sessions. - Serve as a role model and liaison for IPC, fostering positive working relationships with stakeholders and participating in committees as needed. - Travel to various sites for assessment, education, and training activities related to IPC. - Perform duties with accuracy, precision, and in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with professional standards. - Work both in a team environment and independently as necessary, maintaining a professional demeanor and clear communication with staff and leadership.
