Work settings include diagnostic cardiac cath lab and interventional cardiac cath lab. Responsibilities involve performing cardiac implant closure device procedures and cardiac stent placements. Experience with diagnostic catheterizations for adults is necessary, including IABP placement and removal. Tasks also include interpretation of dysrhythmias and left heart catheterization. Candidates should be familiar with percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) and percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA). Right heart catheterization experience is also required, along with rotablader atherectomy skills. Duties include scrub procedures, equipment setup, and recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias. The role involves functioning as a room circulator and maintaining a sterile field with adherence to isolation precautions and sterile technique. Candidates should be comfortable working with middle-aged and older adult patients. The unit accepts first-time travelers who meet the experience requirement.
