Description
Tahoe Donner Association is looking for fun Recreation Leaders to join our Recreation operations! The Recreation Leaderis responsible for working with recreation staff to plan, organize, and lead a variety of recreation activities. This position assists in directing the physical, recreational, and social activities of recreation programs. This position maintains communication with the public, members and guests, promoting and ensuring safety procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Provide excellent customer service to members, guests, business partners and employees. Ensures all staff meet or exceed the highest level of guest service in the performance of their duties.
  2. Uphold Tahoe Donner Association's zero tolerance standard for sexual abuse and molestation by following protocols to protect participants from inappropriate behavior by staff, members, guests, public and other participants.
  3. Lead staff in recreation activities and programming daily.
  4. Prepare recreational facilities and locations for use ensuring appropriate equipment is available for classes and events including the set-up and take-down of equipment.
  5. Perform a variety of administrative tasks in support of recreation programs.
  6. Facilitate large and small group activities, programs and events; guide and participate in a variety of recreational activities (e.g.: music, art, sports and outdoor recreation.)
  7. Observe necessary precautions to secure the safety of recreation participants and render routine first aid in case of minor injury.
  8. Responsible for planning and implementing recreation activities.
  9. Operate office equipment to perform administrative tasks including computers and various software applications, copiers, and telephones.
  10. Supervise field trips for participants.

We are looking for the following qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Experience supervising staff or leading a team.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and "people skills"; must love engaging and interacting with children.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions
  • Team oriented ideals, willingness to work hard, and a desire to learn.
  • Must be a high energy self-starter with keen interest and ability in outdoor adventure.
  • Demonstrated effective organizational skills.
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid certifications for infants, children and adults are required. Training provided if necessary.

These skills and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or equivalent and two to three years' relevant experience and/or training in recreation, or child development and one to two years supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of formal training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform all of the duties of the position.
