Position Description:
Ardent is seeking a
Scrum Master
to support Agile delivery for a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) program. This individual will serve as the team facilitator, ensuring Agile principles and best practices are followed to drive team performance, stakeholder collaboration, and incremental delivery of high-value solutions. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in Scrum and Kanban methodologies, exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to guide Agile teams in a mission-focused federal environment. This is a remote position. Responsibilities and Duties:
Serve as the Scrum Master for Agile teams, facilitating Scrum events including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives. Collaborate closely with Product Owners to ensure product backlogs are well-defined, prioritized, and actionable. Remove impediments to team progress and support a culture of continuous improvement. Track Agile metrics such as velocity, burn-down, and team performance to support reporting and stakeholder transparency. Foster strong communication and alignment within the team and across external stakeholders. Coach team members and stakeholders in Agile values, principles, and practices. Support user story development, acceptance criteria, and refinement sessions to ensure quality delivery. Utilize tools such as Jira, Confluence, or similar for backlog management, documentation, and collaboration. Requirements:
Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or equivalent Agile certification. 7+ years of experience facilitating Agile ceremonies and removing blockers for Agile teams. Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Scrum, Kanban, and familiarity with SAFe. Proficiency in Agile project management tools such as Jira and Confluence. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage team dynamics and stakeholder relationships. Ability to support Agile delivery teams in a hybrid/distributed work environment. Prior experience on federal or DHS-related IT projects strongly preferred. Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced Scrum certifications such as
A-CSM ,
CSP , or equivalent. Experience with
Lean
or other Agile scaling frameworks (e.g., LeSS, SAFe). Background in software development or technical project delivery environments. Experience supporting Agile transformation initiatives in large government or enterprise settings. Bachelors degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.
