Lucid Motors is seeking a Senior High Voltage (HV) Test Engineer - Battery Software with a strong background in software verification and system integration. This role focuses on validating battery software features in high-voltage environments and contributing to the development of safe, reliable BMS-related software for luxury electric vehicles. Responsibilities
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate and verify battery software features in high-voltage environments. Design and execute test plans for critical battery functionalities including charge/discharge control, thermal management, diagnostics, and fault handling. Create and execute test plans for mission- and safety-critical features like charge control, thermal control, fault detection, and diagnostics in the Battery Management System (BMS). Perform sub-system-level testing using MIL, AVL cyclers, and physical battery pack setups. Operate and maintain HV battery test equipment including HiPot testers, oscilloscopes, and multimeters. Utilize tools such as Vector CANoe, CANape, AVL Lynx, and MATLAB/Simulink for test automation, data acquisition, and analysis. Draft and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test reports. Troubleshoot test failures, hardware issues, and communication faults across CAN, LIN, RS-232, USB, and Ethernet interfaces. Develop software tools and test scripts to automate software and hardware integration tests of BMS and test data analytics. Qualifications
4+ years of experience in battery software testing or automotive embedded systems. Proficiency in Vector CANoe, CANape for testing and simulations. Experience with HV battery software testing, including safety protocols, PPE usage, and emergency procedures. Expertise in MATLAB/Simulink for model-based software verification. Strong understanding of battery parameters: voltage, current, capacity, energy, SOC, SOE, SOP, SOH, and charge/discharge characteristics. Familiarity with networking devices and communication protocols (CAN, LIN, RS-232, USB, Automotive Ethernet). Ability to design and build test benches and integrate test automation tools. Excellent documentation skills for test planning, execution, and reporting. Advantageous
Experience with AVL or similar battery pack cyclers. Knowledge of commercial EV charging systems and their integration. Background in battery algorithm testing or lithium-ion cell behavior. Education
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred. Be part of something amazing
