Experienced in local government management and capital project delivery
Knowledgeable in finance, planning processes, and water laws
Skilled at building relationships with community members, regional partners, and elected officials
With a population of 2,314, Canadian, Texas, is a vibrant community that takes pride in its heritage and high quality of life. With roots in cattle ranching and the oil and gas industry, Canadian also thrives on tourism and culture. Canadian operates under a Type A General Law, Council-Manager form of government. The City Council includes the Mayor and five Council Members. The City Manager is the chief administrative and executive officer, reporting directly to the City Council. The new City Manager will deliver the $3.6M City Hall renovation bond project (if approved), strengthen communication and social media presence, implement strategies for water acquisition and resource planning, improve transparency and citizen engagement through publishing live Council meetings, and oversee annual street maintenance and infrastructure improvements.
Responsibilities

Improve transparency and citizen engagement through publishing live Council meetings
Oversee annual street maintenance and infrastructure improvements
Qualifications Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s in Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration, or related field
Minimum three years of progressively responsible municipal supervisory/managerial experience
Must reside within City limits within timeframe set by Council
Bondable and able to obtain a Texas Driver’s License within 90 days
Preferred qualifications include:
Master’s degree in Public or Business Administration
Five years of experience as City Manager/Assistant City Manager
Familiarity with Texas water law, planning processes, and FEMA/NIMS training
Bi-lingual ability
Salary / Benefits The salary range for this position is $120,000 – $145,000 DOE/DOQ.
