The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS is committed to preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City by employing a variety of innovative strategies to help families and individuals successfully exit shelter and return to self-sufficiency as quickly as possible.
HRA/General Support Services (GSS) provides safe, healthy, and appropriate facilities for HRA’s various social service programs. Its functions include facilities planning, design, construction, renovation, repair, maintenance, custodial and building services, health/safety coordination, lease and property management, land use and environmental review, contract administration, and warehouse operations. GSS also plays a major role in HRA emergency preparedness.
GSS / Printing and Distribution Services is recruiting for one (1) Administrative Printing Service Manager M1 to serve as the Director of Distribution Services. The responsibilities include:
Building and maintaining relationships with DSS/HRA/DHS senior leadership to understand distribution needs, ensure strategic alignment, and support business priorities.
Ensuring cost-effective mailings by streamlining operations, services, workflows, systems, and reports.
Responding with agility to changing priorities and recommending staffing and equipment purchases.
Monitoring activities to meet quality and quantity standards, milestones, and agency objectives.
Ensuring proper controls in the distribution of negotiable documents.
Overseeing scheduling, completion, and distribution of mailings across shifts.
Coordinating with internal units to resolve operational issues and meet distribution deadlines.
Communicating with key stakeholders about mailing statuses and strategies.
Obtaining technical support for equipment and ensuring staff are trained on operating procedures.
Evaluating employee performance and maintaining high standards.
Work Location: 4 World Trade Center, 30th Floor, NYC
Hours/Schedule: Managerial Flex Schedule
Minimum Qualifications:
Five years of full-time technical printing experience, including supervisory experience in operations such as offset and letterpress printing, type methods, binding, etc.
Or equivalent education and/or experience with at least 18 months of supervisory experience.
Preferred Skills include leadership, communication, operational experience in mail rooms, equipment operation, partnership building, staff training, analytical and strategic thinking, business acumen, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
