Job Description Petroleum Engineer Location: Houston, Texas Position Status: FT (Full-time) FLSA Status: Exempt Company Profile: CNPC USA is a subsidiary of China Petroleum Company and serves as the North American headquarters. Job Summary: CNPC USA is actively seeking creative, innovative, best-in-class experts to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity for a mid-senior Petroleum Engineer. The right candidate will be responsible for reservoir engineering and EOR projects. This position reports to the Vice President of CNPC USA Corp. in the Geosciences department. Responsibilities: Collaborate with engineers on global teams to analyze field performances and advise on improving recovery. Work collaboratively with Wells & Geoscience experts on implementing successful development plans. Monitor reservoir data and provide insights and recommendations based on analysis. Perform reservoir simulations, including model initialization, history matching, and forecasting. Generate flow streams through the use of material balance, analogs, and simulations. Create plots and reports to communicate field performances. Analyze field data to establish trends, recognize deviations, and identify data quality issues. Conduct reservoir characterizations and uncertainty studies in both conventional and unconventional resources. Build and sustain proprietary reservoir engineering technology. Key Skills: Proven ability to deliver projects on time, on target, with quality and sustainability. Strong reservoir engineering and simulation skills. Experience with experimental studies is a plus. Deep understanding of reservoir surveillance and field management, with demonstrated knowledge/experience in: Reservoir surveillance; Field management; Petrophysics; Rock mechanics; Fluid mechanics; Porous media flow; Fluid phase behaviors; CCUS. Excellent writing and presentation skills. Qualifications: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. Master's or Doctoral degree in Petroleum or related Engineering field. Hands-on experience in reservoir engineering, monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing reservoir performance. Experience with IOR/EOR, including pilot design, execution, and production optimization for chemical, gas, thermal, or microbial EOR projects. Experience with unconventional reservoirs and hydraulic fracturing techniques is a plus. Work Environment: This role operates in a professional office environment with standard office equipment. Physical Demands: Regularly required to talk or hear; involves some filing, lifting up to 20 lbs, and bending. Travel: Requires overnight domestic and international travel, including local travel between CNPC USA locations. Supervisory Responsibility: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
