Title: Corporate Counsel, Labor & Employment Location: Corporate Office - Chicago, IL | Stamford, CT | Scottsdale, AZ | Las Vegas, NV | Wakefield, MA Job Type: Full-Time What Youll Do Take charge of dispute management from attorney demands, administrative agency charges, and lawsuits in state or federal court. Manage disputes proactively to achieve the best result for the company, including budgeting with outside counsel and reporting litigation risks internally. Focus on employment-related disputes, with opportunities to assist on non-employment disputes, including the Companys material commercial, regulatory, and EHS-related matters. Provide timely advice and counsel on day-to-day matters to field management and field HR on a broad range of employment-law topics, including leaves of absence, reasonable accommodations, wage and hour, termination/discipline, employee relations, and ethics investigations. Stay abreast of developments in federal, state, and local employment laws and manage compliance plans related to legislative changes. Provide training to HR and field management on various employment-law topics. Work closely with HR to develop best practices, training, and employment strategy. Assist with strategically focused employment-law compliance projects.

What Youll Bring

J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in which the attorney resides, or eligibility to practice as registered in-house counsel. 6+ years of employment-law experience including significant litigation experience gained in private practice or with a large multinational corporate organization. Strong working knowledge of employment laws, including discrimination and employee-leave matters, under federal, state, and local laws. Excellent written and oral communication skills: clear, concise, organized, and persuasive. Ability to work independently and as a strong team player. Superior interpersonal skills; able to collaborate with diverse personalities; tactful and flexible. Ability to function in a fast-paced environment with agility and urgency; manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Highly motivated and proactive; able to respond calmly, creatively, and quickly in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment; strong work ethic. Strong legal analysis, reasoning, and writing abilities, including the ability to synthesize facts and law to make sound decisions under tight timeframes. Excellent judgment and ability to assess risks and take firm positions to protect the companys interests. Ability to build and maintain relationships with relevant business groups and work collaboratively as part of a dispersed Legal team. Willingness to travel as needed.

Even Better If

Labor-law experience, including union campaigns, collective bargaining, OSHA, Workers Compensation, or experience in highly regulated industries.
