Product Engineering is a unified team responsible for the engineering of Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms. This includes product engineering, media engineering, quality assurance, engineering behind personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity. Join our dynamic team at ESPN as an Android Mobile Software Engineer, where you will play a pivotal role in developing cutting-edge OTT applications for the Android ecosystem using Java and Kotlin. In this hands-on position, you will collaborate with a diverse, cross-functional team of Product Managers, Designers, Mobile/Web/Backend Engineers, and Content Creators to conceptualize and deliver world-class ESPN apps. Responsibilities: Software Development:Assist in designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing software solutions. Collaboration:Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of features. Learning and Growth:Gain experience in managing project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables under the guidance of senior engineers. Problem Solving:Contribute to solving technical challenges and improving the overall user experience. Mentorship:Receive mentorship and guidance from senior engineers to develop your skills and grow within the team. Basic Qualifications: 3+ years hands-on professional development experience with Android and/or Android TV BS Computer Science or related technical discipline or its equivalent Strong understanding of OO design patterns and concepts Experience with: Kotlin. RxJava or Coroutines, Jetpack, Compose, Dagger/Hilt, Retrofit Image Loading (i.e. Glide, Picasso, Coil) Solid understanding of Android app development life cycle including Google Play and Amazon App Store compliance policies and submissions requirements Experience with unit test frameworks and continuous integration systems A sound understanding of HTTP and REST-style web services Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies Preferred Qualifications: Familiar with multiple Application architectures (i.e. MVVM, MVI) and experience building TV applications Demonstrated experience working on a major consumer-facing app that is currently live in the marketplace, with a strong understanding of product architecture and performance optimization. Ability to thrive in a small, fast-paced development team while also being capable of independently managing tasks, troubleshooting issues, and balancing multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Strong skills in writing efficient, reliable, and maintainable code across a variety of tasksincluding implementing features, improving architecture, and fixing defectswhile continuously analyzing and optimizing performance. #DISNEYTECH ***This role is onsite four (4) days per week and must sit in one of our technology locations above*** The hiring range for this position in San Francisco, CA is $125,800 - $168,700 per year, Seattle, WA is $120,300 - $161,300 per year, Glendale, CA is $114,900 - $154,100 per year, Bristol CT is $114,900 - -$154,100 per year, in New York is $120,300 - $161,300 per year and Santa Monica, CA is $114,900 -$154,100 per year, The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidates geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
