Overview Claims Advocates serve as the primary point of contact for clients when a loss occurs. In this role you will evaluate coverage, identify potential issues, collect and document relevant information, and drive claims toward timely, favorable resolution across all commercial property and casualty lines. Clients will also leverage your experience and insight to correctly manage exposure and reduce the risk that they face.

Core Responsibilities

Own the end-to-end life cycle of new and existing claims. This includes providing coverage assessments, reporting claims to insurers, finding opportunities for risk reduction/transfer, and bringing claims to swift and optimal resolutions.

Investigate coverage questions from clients and provide clear guidance to internal and external stakeholders.

Serve as primary liaison between clients and adjusters. This includes identifying and resolving customer service and claim handling issues both before they arise and after they appear.

Draft and deliver claim status reports to keep client leadership apprised of important and developing information.

Review lawsuits, contracts, repair estimates, witness statements, evidence, and other documentation prior to claim submission.

Maintain detailed claim notes and documentation within Applied Epic, our agency and claim management system.

Continuously build carrier relationships to influence outcomes and maintain strong working relationships with adjusters.

Requirements

3–7 years of experience handling commercial property and casualty claims at an insurance brokerage or agency.

Comprehensive understanding of commercial insurance policies and coverage.

Demonstrated ability to interpret policy forms (ISO and manuscript) and make coverage assessments.

Successful record of negotiating with adjusters to enhance claim management, optimize client outcomes, achieve goals.

Familiarity with litigated claim handling, mediation, and arbitration processes.

Strong written and verbal skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Experience with Applied Epic.

Ability to obtain an Illinois Property & Casualty insurance license within six (6) months of start date (company-funded) if not already licensed.

Bonus Experience (Not Required)

Professional designations/licenses: SCLA/ACLA, AIC, ARM, CPCU, adjuster license, or equivalent.

Exposure to captives, large-deductible programs, or alternative risk financing.
