GENERAL SUMMARY
:
The Assistant Director of Academic Services has a primary focus of academic advising and administrative support for Booth students. The Assistant Director works directly with students, faculty and staff in Hyde Park and at the downtown Chicago campus. This individual is responsible for ensuring a successful program experience for all students. This position has responsibilities at the Hyde Park & downtown Chicago campuses. PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: Advise students on the curriculum, course selection, schedule planning, and help manage career and professional trade-offs throughout their program of study. Communicate policies, administrative, and academic requirements to ensure successful progression to degree completion. Advise students managing personal, professional, and academic challenges that impact academic performance and progress. Manage a portfolio of academic support responsibilities and their administrative processes. Develop and provide content support for academic advising through videos, websites, and email. Support online advising tools, including the Program of Study Tool, the bidding system, Slate student success, and curriculum web pages. Deliver area-specific presentations to current and incoming students. Liaise between students, faculty, and other Chicago Booth programs, centers, and support units. Support students with disability accommodations, including proctoring exams, and assist with student intake, short-term, and unique disability management. Complete special or seasonal projects and perform additional duties as assigned. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the Director of Academic Services. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in academically related field strongly preferred. Minimum two years of responsible, progressive experience in higher education with a focus in academic advising required; including a strong understanding of graduate degree programs and curricula preferred. Proven outstanding interpersonal skills that encourages teamwork, engagement and trust with students, faculty and other Chicago Booth offices required; ability to balance empathy with consistent application of policies/procedures; excellent written, verbal, and listening skills required. Ability to
prioritize, work independently with initiative to meet deadlines and solve problems required. Demonstrate good judgment and to work effectively during seasonal high volume. Maintain and safeguard student confidentiality. Excellent attention to detail, strong organization, technological and data analysis skills required.
