Overview Cooley’s Cyber/Data/Privacy (c/d/p) practice group is seeking a midlevel associate who focuses on litigation and/or regulatory enforcement investigations involving privacy and data security matters to join the team in our New York, San Francisco, Chicago, or Washington, DC offices. The firm’s c/d/p group has over 30 full-time attorneys in the US, UK, Europe, and Asia, and continues to expand its award-winning c/d/p litigation and investigations practice.

Responsibilities

Focus on litigation and/or regulatory enforcement investigations involving privacy and data security matters.

Engage directly with clients and lead significant projects.

Defend data privacy and security class actions when applicable (e.g., Stored Communications Act, wiretapping claims, unfair or deceptive trade practices, and data breach class actions).

Qualifications

4–6 years of experience focusing on regulatory investigations or litigation involving consumer protection issues (State Attorneys General, FTC, and other regulatory agencies).

Experience defending data privacy and security class actions (e.g., Stored Communications Act, wiretapping claims, unfair or deceptive trade practices, and data breach class actions).

High level of academic achievement from a nationally recognized law school.

Ability to engage directly with clients and lead significant projects.

General tech fluency; impeccable analytical and writing skills.

Compensation The expected annual pay range for this position is $310,000 - $390,000. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
