Overview
The Fort Hall Business Council has named Daniel Stone as Executive Director for the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes. Stone has worked for 16 years within the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, including as the Fish and Wildlife Policy Analyst where he supported efforts in salmon recovery, wildlife management, and habitat conservation. In 2017, he served a one-year term on the Fort Hall Business Council and returned to Fish and Wildlife to support the development of new salmon recovery strategies. For the past year, Stone has supported efforts of the Upper Snake River Tribes to develop comprehensive climate change strategies for the regional tribes as their Environmental Director, working with the Shoshone-Bannock, Shoshone-Paiute, Burns Paiute, and Fort McDermitt Paiute Shoshone Tribes to develop measurable objectives for mitigating the risk of climate impacts across the Snake River Basin. Stone describes himself as an advocate for protecting, preserving, and enhancing Shoshone-Bannock homelands. He aims to bring his unique skill set to the Executive Office and is looking forward to working with the tribal staff to implement meaningful programs that support the membership. Responsibilities
My goal as the Executive Director is to ensure the tribes are accountable to the membership for the programs we implement, planning for the future needs of our community, and developing an equitable management structure for our staff that emphasizes professional growth and development.
