Primary Purpose Primary Purpose of Position:
A senior lawyer handling complex legal matters and projects on behalf of the Company.
Primary Duties
Representation and Counsel:
Provide legal advice regarding complex commercial assignments related to disputes and complaints for regulated DER interconnection projects. Represent the Company at regulatory hearings if necessary, and support internal and external project compliance, advising on regulatory matters using business strategy to complete projects and resolve customer disputes. Requires strong understanding of the electric utility business and large interconnection projects. Manage reporting obligations, evaluate legal and business risks, review and draft legal documents, and advise during dispute resolution, ensuring compliance with internal policies and laws.
Budget and Outside Counsel Management:
Prepare budgets and oversee outside counsel.
Project Leadership:
Provide leadership to other department attorneys and support staff.
Additional duties as assigned.
Job Scope
Support senior attorneys in managing relationships with internal clients, outside counsel, stakeholders, and regulators.
Demonstrate superior legal judgment and innovation in devising solutions.
Minimum Qualifications JD or LLB from an accredited law school, licensed to practice in relevant jurisdictions, with 7-10 years of relevant experience, particularly in utility legal matters. Strong knowledge of regulatory and administrative law in Illinois, excellent research and analytical skills, clear communication, and experience advising business clients.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with regulated industries, utility law, tariffs, riders, and franchise agreements.
Knowledge of Illinois public utilities act and its application.
Benefits Salary ranges from $164,000 to $225,500 annually, with bonuses, 401(k) matching, comprehensive insurance, generous paid time off, wellbeing programs, and additional perks. Eligibility for programs depends on length of service, job grade, and other factors.
