MedStar Health is looking for a Certified Athletic Trainer II (Community Liaison) to join our team at MedStar National Rehabilitation Network. We are seeking a certified athletic trainer and professional competency as outlined by the NATABOC practice domains. Athletic Trainers are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. The ATC II/CL provides dedicated comprehensive sports medicine services to educate members of the community about MedStar Sports Medicine services, and works with the MedStar Health business development team to provide feedback about the sports medicine needs of the community and to develop marketing and referral plans. Responsibilities
Demonstrates the ability to initiate referral process to successfully navigate outreach through the MedStar National Rehabilitation Network system, increasing volumes (e.g., physician referrals, physical therapy) by utilizing marketing resources and MedStar Care Connect. Seek new business and growth opportunities for the MedStar Sports Medicine brand (contracts, schools, teams, clubs, programs) to build the MedStar Sports Medicine profile. Solidify these opportunities with partnership agreements, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), and contracts. Actively attend and represent MedStar National Rehabilitation Network at meetings and marketing opportunities. Serve as liaison between MedStar National Rehabilitation Network, community organizations, parents, athletes, outside physicians and physical therapists to enhance community relationships, solidify program growth and provide high quality health care services. Advocate for safe participation in youth sports, injury prevention, and research projects. Develop, distribute, monitor effectiveness of educational programming for community organizations and partners (this could include educational series and seminars, athletic development programs and screenings). As needed, provides athletic medicine coverage of events that are affiliated programs with MedStar National Rehabilitation Network. Examples include camps, tournaments, health fairs, educational classes, affiliated contract coverage. Prevents, recognizes, evaluates, and provides immediate care, rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries/illnesses. Maintains accountability for site specific schedules, reporting and tracking, and employee compliance. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, in-service meetings, workshops, and independent learning experiences and other forums. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in athletic training from an accredited college or university. 3-4 years’ experience practicing as a certified athletic trainer. Certified as an ATC by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC). AHA (American Heart Association) CPR certification. Eligible for ATC license in Maryland and Virginia and eligible to practice in the District of Columbia. Master’s degree preferred. 5-7 years' experience preferred. 1-2 years within MedStar National Rehabilitation Network preferred. Seniority level
