People Analytics Machine Learning Scientist III Introduction to Team Our Corporate Functions are made up of teams that support Expedia Group, including Employee Communications, Finance, Legal, People Team, Inclusion and Diversity, and Global Social Impact and Sustainability. Our rapidly growing People Analytics team is seeking an accomplishedMachine Learning Scientist who has demonstrable experience leading the evolution of analytics products from dashboard-centric solutions (e.g., Tableau) to advanced AI/ML-driven capabilities. With significant new investment in AI at Expedia Group, we are growing our team with forward-thinking leaders who will help us unlock this opportunity. As a MLS you will collaborate with analytics advisors, machine learning and data engineering teams, and senior business stakeholders to deliver impactful, scalable products that improve business outcomes and employee experiences and will play a pivotal role in driving product strategy and development across our data and ML/AI platform roadmap. In this role you will: Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models - including LLMs and RAG architectures - to driving the People Analytics from traditional dashboards to AI-powered insights. Write clean, modular, and maintainable code (Python, R, SQL, etc.), contributing to model feature engineering, pipeline construction, and seamless integration with existing analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, TabPy). Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, including machine learning engineers, data engineers, analytics advisors, and business stakeholders, to translate business and stakeholder needs into robust, actionable, UX-friendly, ML solutions. Translate ambiguous business problems as concrete, solvable ML tasks; select appropriate modeling approaches and balance speed, scale, and business value in your solutions. Drive the migration of existing dashboard and BI workflows to ML-driven automation and decisioning, identifying high-value opportunities for AI/GenAI augmentation. Develop, track, and interpret model performance metrics and business impact measures; proactively iterate to improve performance, explainability, and user adoption. Champion robust data governance practices, including reproducibility, model versioning, experimentation, and continuous improvement. Communicate complex technical details and insights effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences alike - using data visualization, narrative structure, and clear documentation. Take ownership of product lifecycles: from ideation and rapid prototyping to stakeholder alignment, production delivery, monitoring, and iterative enhancement. Stay informed on the latest advances in People Analytics, AI/ML technologies, and best practices; recommend and pilot innovative methods to keep Expedia Group ahead of the curve. Experience and Qualifications: Bachelors or Masters degree in a technical or quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics), or equivalent experience. 4+ years of demonstrable experience delivering ML/AI products. Strong preference for LLM and RAG model experience. Proven track record of transitioning products and users from traditional BI/dashboard solutions to ML/AI-driven capabilities. Proficiency in SQL and Python required. Deep understanding of data pipelines, ML workflows, data governance, and operationalizing ML models. Strong BI experience. Tableau and TabPy especially is a plus Experience working within People Analytics, HR analytics, or related domains preferred. Familiarity with HR technology platforms and data a plus (e.g., Workday, Employee Surveys) Excellent communication skills, able to synthesize complex technical details and business needs for diverse audiences. Strong problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity, and a growth mindset. Demonstrated ability to drive clarity and progress across ambiguity, especially in data/ML platform or infrastructure unblocking scenarios. Please include examples of AI/ML products or features you have shipped, as well as relevant data visualization/BI work (e.g., Tableau Public profile), if available. Please note that this role is only available in Seattle (preferred) and New York, in alignment with our flexible work model which requires employees to be in-office at least three days a week. We are unable to offer relocation assistance for this role. The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $137,500.00 to $192,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $220,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individuals knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
