A minimum of 7 years' experience in public sector finance, including supervisory roles, is required. Professional certifications such as CPA, CGFO, or CPFO are highly desirable. The role also requires strong leadership and management skills, the ability to build effective relationships with various stakeholders, and the capacity to communicate complex financial information clearly. In-depth knowledge of municipal finance laws, regulations, and best practices, particularly those relevant to the State of Texas, is essential.
