About the Role
The Company is seeking a General Counsel to serve as the in-house lawyer for the Office of the Attorney General. The successful candidate will have a primary role in supervising and managing a team of attorneys and paralegals, providing expert guidance on state ethics law, and representing the office in various legal matters, including administrative complaints and grievance processes. The General Counsel will also be responsible for overseeing compliance with ethical and legal obligations, handling workplace investigations, and ensuring the office's policies and procedures align with state and professional ethics.
Applicants for the General Counsel position at the company must be members of the Massachusetts bar with a minimum of 10 years' legal experience, preferably with a management background. The role requires substantial experience in employment and labor law, as well as knowledge of state government and the implementation of laws related to contracting, conflict of interest, public records, and records retention. The ideal candidate will have a strong leadership background, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with peers and other government agencies.
