Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Insurance Coordinator to join our team at Hill & Wilkinson. This position will focus on the management of subcontractor insurance documentation, insurance renewals, claims coordination, and assist in communications with insurance brokers. A strong understanding of construction insurance requirements and lines of coverage related to the construction industry is essential.
In this role you will take ownership of subcontractor insurance management, overseeing the collection, review, and monitoring of insurance certificates and endorsements through a third-party system to ensure compliance with company standards. You will also assist with insurance renewals and placement of Builders Risk policies.
In addition, this role plays a vital part in insurance claims coordination, acting as a liaison between our internal teams, insurance brokers, and carriers to support efficient claim resolution.
Key Responsibilities
Subcontractor Insurance Management Track all subcontractor insurance certificates (COIs) and endorsements to ensure compliance with contractual and project-specific requirements via a third-party review service. Monitor expiration dates and ensure timely renewal of insurance documents. Communicate with subcontractors to obtain missing or updated insurance information. Ensure all insurance documents meet contractual standards, including endorsements, limits, and policy types. Assist with company insurance renewals & compliance Coordinate with internal teams and brokers to ensure the companys corporate insurance policies are renewed on time (GL, WC, Auto, Builders Risk, etc.). Maintain internal records of insurance policies, endorsements, and renewals. Verify that subcontractor insurance aligns with updated risk management requirements. Serve as the point of contact for reporting, documenting, and tracking insurance claims. Work closely with brokers, carriers, and internal teams to resolve claims efficiently and with minimal disruption to operations. Maintain thorough documentation of claims for audit and compliance purposes. Coordinate annual insurance reviews and provide documentation required by brokers or underwriters. Communicate to brokers company needs, policy changes, and coverage inquiries effectively and professionally. Understand various lines of credit used in the construction industry, including performance bonds, payment bonds, surety, and project financing structures. Assist in evaluating financial risk exposure related to subcontractor non-compliance or underinsurance.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in a Risk Management, or Insurance Coordinator role within the construction industry. Strong knowledge of insurance types relevant to construction (General Liability, Workers Compensation, Auto, Excess Liability, Builders Risk, etc.). Familiarity with surety bonds and lines of credit in the construction context. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and third-party document management systems. Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
