Microbiology Technician IV
Perform routine and non-routine microbiological testing and environmental monitoring in support of sterile manufacturing operations. Prepare equipment/supplies/paperwork for EM/laboratory testing Don appropriate attire including lab coat, scrubs, coveralls, or sterile garment as required Collect viable and non-viable samples from facility cleanrooms/personnel Collect critical utility samples (WFI/Pure Air) Document sample collection/testing/results in accordance with good documentation practices/ALCOA principles Incubate/read samples Perform data into GLIMS Prepare culture media/diluents for microbiological testing Operate EM/Laboratory equipment including: Glassware washer, autoclave, pH meter, balance, hot plate, water bath, thermometer, pipette, air sampler, etc. Perform visual inspection of media fill units for turbidity/microbial presence Perform testing of raw materials, components, and finished products in accordance with standard operating procedures/methods including: Antimicrobial Effectiveness, Biological Indicators, Antibiotic Potency, Sterility, Bioburden, Particulate Matter, Endotoxin, etc. Perform growth promotion testing of in-house and purchased media Perform gram-stain/identification of microorganisms Maintain laboratory culture collection and preserve cultures Perform non-routine monitoring/testing in conjunction with laboratory investigations and validation activities. Maintains inventory of laboratory supplies Conduct training and coaching of junior Technicians Review and revise EM/Laboratory procedures for enhancement, clarity, corrections, etc. Assist with data compilation and preparation of trend reports All other duties as assigned Qualifications/Training: Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or equivalent Life Science required. 2+ years of relevant work experience in a cGMP compliant industry required. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Ability to lift and/or carry 25 lbs Ability to achieve 20/20 correctable vision Ability to maintain proper personal hygiene Ability to wear laboratory PPE/attire EM Technician IV - ability to gown aseptically and work in a controlled environment for extended periods of time (no makeup, jewelry, fingernail polish, etc.) Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to communicate effectively with peers and management Ability to work well with others Ability to read, write, and speak English Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Ability to work full-time, onsite, including overtime and weekends if necessary to meet department/site objectives. Ability to understand and accurately comply with SOPs, test methods, and cGMP requirements. Intermediate communication skills (oral and written) Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, etc.) Strong organization skills / attention to detail Good work ethic (on time, highly motivated, etc.) Intermediate knowledge of microbiological testing / environmental monitoring techniques. Shift: Sunday - Thursday / 3:00pm - 11:30pm Start Pay Range: $28.85
