Hiring Range: $17.80-$19.31/hour Various shifts, some evenings, weekends and/or holidays Part Time Temporary Benefits include: Benefits required by law are included such as Jury & Witness Duty, Sick Leave, Social Security, and Medicare. Definition: Under the supervision of a Program Supervisor or Recreation Coordinator, assists in the development and/or implementation of recreational, leisure or cultural program activities, including children/youth/special needs programming, and assists in the development of programming for the coming year. Climbing: Also assists with maintaining equipment and venue relative to the program. Principal Duties: • Act as program assistant for children's, special needs, family and/or adult programs. • Assist program staff in preparation, organization and implementation of lesson plans. • Assist program staff in contracting with artists, science educators, or other specialized educators and instructors to teach special programs or serve as guest instructors in enriching programs.

• Assist program staff in contracting with outside vendors to maintain safety and quality standards for specialized equipment, such as belay devices, climbing area, and equipment. • Assist in the supervision of program participants and help ensure the safety of program participants during each program session. • Work with program staff to update program plans and maintain documentation materials and files of information pertaining to the program. • Assist program staff in researching and developing program content for subsequent implementation. • Assist in scheduling programs and registering participants. • Assist in scheduling staff and conducting applicable staff training. • Assist in marketing programs to target groups. • Performs essential duties and additional tasks in a manner which enhances City Attributes. Working Environment: Work is performed in both an office environment, a classroom environment and in an outdoor environment. Some activities take place off site. Work environment may require prolonged sitting and standing, including work at a personal computer. Environments includes exposure to sun, dirt, water, and all types of weather conditions. Classroom and outdoor work requires standing, bending, kneeling, and carrying and lifting up to 30 lbs. Climbing: Work is primarily performed in an indoor environment and office setting with minimal outdoor or remote work. Qualifications: Any combination of education and work experience equivalent to two years of college or two years of experience in working in recreation, leisure, therapeutic, cultural programming, or indoor climbing. Educational background or current enrollment in a course of study related to the specific job responsibilities preferred. Climbing: Possess belay certification or obtain within three months of hire. Special Qualifications: Recreation: Ability to provide personal care assistance for special needs if required.
