Siemens' Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit is looking for an Application Engineer to join our team. This role is located in Wendell, NC with remote possibility. You'll make an impact by: Preparing comprehensive technical and commercial proposals and solutions that best fits our customer needs, while ensuring competitive pricing. Working closely with Siemens Sales to prepare offers with focus on Pad Mounted Switchgear and/or Gas Insulated Switchgear and/or MV Metal Enclosed Air Insulated Switchgear. Supporting customers in the datacenter, industrial and construction markets. Reviewing customer specifications, commercial/technical documents, and product requirements. Preparing layout and single line drawings to demonstrate the intended scope of work. Collaborating with Engineers within the Business Unit to generate technical solutions for the Siemens/ Trayer suite of products. Preparing RFQ packages for third party products and working closely with Procurement team to secure the quotations. Performing quote evaluations and making technical recommendations to the design and the vendor choices. Developing the cost model for the quotation using product configurators and securing approvals from the senior management. Preparing Customer-facing proposal for Medium Voltage/ pad mounted Switchgear and associated third party products. Engaging in Customer discussions by supporting the Business Development and Sales teams. Participating in pre-sales engagements with Regional Sales Managers, customers, and channel partners to scope and present technical solutions. Collaborating with internal departments and Sales teams to negotiate and secure contracts. Working closely with the Project Management (PMO) team for an efficient and effective handover of the project from the Bid Phase to the Project execution phase. Conducting product demonstrations and on-site/ showroom customer training sessions. You'll win us over by having the following qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. 1+ year experience in engineering experience in an EPC, engineering, manufacturing, utility, or industrial corporate environment. Ability to analyze customer's technical specifications & single line diagrams. Financial knowledge to understand and participate in ongoing business planning and support the product as well as project lifecycle management processes. Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Office tools and willingness to learn product configuration/pricing applications. Travel Required Less than 25% Preferred Qualifications: Good communications skills to effectively and accurately communicate with internal and external customers. Ability to identify market trends and using this information, work closely with Marketing and Technology to create and justify projects to close the identified gaps. Collaboration, leadership, and decision-making skills in a team environment, and demonstrated ability to perform and prioritize multiple, simultaneous tasks while maintaining excellent customer service. Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL and NEMA standards for power distribution applications and the best practices. In specific for Medium Voltage switchgear and Transformers applications. Basic experience in the design and application of electrical distribution products with a focus on medium voltage metal clad, metal enclosed switchgear products and/or Transformers. Basic knowledge and experience evaluating Single line drawings, schematics, relay protection & control schemes, communication network diagrams and related engineering documents. Basic experience with Electrical and 2D Layout drawing tools such as AutoCad, Visio, etc. 3-5 years engineering experience in an EPC, engineering, manufacturing, utility, industrial corporate environment or similar. Advanced degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience. Candidate to have work authorization that would permit them to work within the United States.
