Project/Process Safety Engineer
to support process safety activities primarily for capital projects throughout the company. The Project Process Safety Engineer must work in and have working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119 as well as 40 CFR 68 (RMP). The Project Process Safety Engineer will work directly under the supervision of the PSM Project Manager and take steps needed to develop a more in-depth knowledge of PSM/RMP regulatory requirements. RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure Projects that occur in PSM-regulated sites always stay in compliance with SNF Corporate PSM Policies and Procedures
Work with the site Process Safety Specialists to ensure compliance
Analyze and review process design, material and energy balances, and equipment, piping, and valve specifications as needed for new and unique projects. Act as process safety representative for assigned capital projects and support project activities Ensure the project is aware of and adheres to all required RAGAGEP and other required standards
Ability to apply relevant industry codes and standards throughout SNF
Ensure Process Safety Information for both process and equipment files are maintained and available Conduct process safety-related audits/inspections, both internal and external Conduct internal audits of project site activities related to Process Safety Participate/Lead project risk review meetings with process and project designers/engineers to ensure process safety concerns are addressed Lead both Regulated and Non-Regulated Process Safety Reviews and PHAs as required Participate in knowledge sharing with site PSM Specialist(s) and Corporate PSM group to share best practices Train new and existing employees related to PSM regulation and the SNF program Develop understanding of Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) Report on PSM/RMP program activities for management Use and continue development of the software used to administer portions of the PSM/RMP program
Qualifications
EDUCATION: B.S. in Engineering or related scientific/technical degree (chemistry, biology, environmental science, etc.) 3+ years of plant experience in an industrial setting Knowledge of applicable RAGAGEP standards related to chemical equipment and manufacturing processes Experience in chemical facility operations, maintenance, or engineering, and process safety Experience in capital projects and supporting project teams Excellent organizational skills and capability to prioritize and multitask Strong communication skills, including the ability to lead meetings (PHAs, etc.)
Ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels in the organization
Ability to work independently Demonstrated commitment to continual improvement and the ability to make timely decisions Proficient VelocityEHS (EHS EMS Software) and ABS Leader (PHA Leader Software) user is a plus Familiarity with MOC process, EHS Action Item Tracking, and PHA software is a plus ASP or CSP certification is a plus Travel to sites as required to meet job responsibilities
