Career Opportunity: As a highly valued member of the Indianapolis team, the Inventory Specialist is responsible for maintaining an efficient and accurate finance function within the Smurfit WestRock business. The role involves assisting management in the maintenance, reporting and management of the companys production costs.?

How you will impact Smurfit WestRock: In this role, you will be responsible for planning, studying and collecting data to determine costs of business activity for the plant such as inventory, labor and costs of goods sold. Major responsibilities will be to understand the different cost components, develop/adjust standard cost in order to reflect the product costs and understand and explain the variances to budget/standards. Primary Responsibilities: Investigate inventory count variances, and resolve issues Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of closing procedures Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies Prepare and post monthly journal entries as needed Assist in Month end close and the General Ledger, also includes owning the recording of inventory adjustments Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs Assist in developing and documenting policies and procedures, including system requirements and internal controls Process and assist in monthly balance sheet reconciliations What you need to succeed: Associates or Bachelors degree in accounting or related field is preferred Manufacturing experience highly preferred Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.) Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
