Job Summary
The Commodity Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategic sourcing plans for key commodities across all manufacturing facilities. This role will focus on securing supply continuity, optimizing total cost of ownership, improving supplier performance, and ensuring compliance with Sunny Sky’s quality and sustainability standards. The position requires a results-driven leader with strong market insight, negotiation skills, and the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
Major Job Functions
Strategic Sourcing & Market Insight
Develop and implement commodity sourcing strategies to achieve cost, quality, and service goals. Monitor global and domestic commodity markets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities. Support risk management activities, including price protection strategies where applicable. Supplier Management
Lead supplier identification, selection, negotiation, and contract execution. Build and maintain strong, value-based supplier relationships. Track supplier performance using KPIs and address any performance issues promptly. Cost Optimization & Continuous Improvement
Drive cost savings through negotiations, process improvements, and strategic sourcing initiatives. Lead competitive bidding, contract renewals, and value analysis projects. Collaborate with suppliers to identify efficiency and innovation opportunities. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Operations, R&D, Finance, and Quality to align sourcing strategies with business needs. Support new product development by identifying and onboarding suppliers for new raw materials. Provide market intelligence and sourcing updates to leadership. Required Skills/Abilities/Education
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or related field. Minimum 5–7 years of commodity management or strategic sourcing experience, preferably in food & beverage manufacturing. Proven experience in contract negotiation, supplier management, and cost savings delivery. Knowledge of commodity markets (sugar, dairy, fruit concentrates, packaging, or related materials preferred). Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP S/4HANA preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
