A respected intellectual property law firm is actively seeking a USPTO-registered Patent Attorney or Patent Agent with deep expertise in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Artificial Intelligence, or closely related fields. This full-time role supports a dynamic patent prosecution practice focused on cutting-edge innovations at the convergence of biology and software. The position is ideal for candidates with strong technical acumen and a desire to operate in a collaborative legal environment. Attorney applicants will find this opportunity particularly appealing if seeking a non-traditional, lower billable-hour structure. Location: Washington, DC Duties: Draft and prosecute patent applications in life sciences and biotechnology-related fields Engage directly with inventors and clients on patent strategies Conduct prior art research and analysis Respond to USPTO Office Actions Advise on IP protection strategies for technologies involving AI and computational biology Collaborate with legal teams and technical experts on complex IP matters Prepare detailed technical writing, including patent documentation and client communications Requirements: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in patent prosecution Expertise in bioinformatics, computational biology, artificial intelligence, or similar areas Excellent technical writing and communication skills Strong attention to detail and organization Willingness to work on-site in one of the specified office locations Transcripts and writing samples will be required during the application process Education: Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D. preferred) in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, AI, or related discipline Certifications: USPTO Registration required Attorney candidates must be licensed in the state corresponding to their preferred office location Skills: Strong foundation in both biological sciences and software-based technologies Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear legal documentation High degree of accuracy in research and writing Effective multitasking and time management Collaborative mindset with the ability to work within cross-functional legal teams Lower billable hour requirement for non-partnership track attorneys Opportunity to work on high-impact legal matters involving advanced life sciences innovations Company info BCG Attorney Search 1629 K ST NW, Suite 300 Washington District of Columbia United States 20006 Phone :
