Intellectual Property, Hatch Waxman Litigation Associate Attorney Job Overview: A respected law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a skilled Associate Attorney with a background in pharmaceutical patent disputes to support its growing Intellectual Property practice. This role focuses on litigation involving the Hatch-Waxman Act and related regulatory frameworks. The ideal candidate will have law firm experience, technical knowledge in life sciences, and a record of excellence in advocacy and legal writing. The position offers exposure to high-impact IP cases and collaboration with seasoned trial attorneys across the IP litigation spectrum. Duties: Represent clients in patent litigation under the Hatch-Waxman Act Draft pleadings, briefs, and motions at various litigation stages Conduct fact and expert discovery, including depositions and document review Engage with clients, co-counsel, and opposing counsel on case strategy Support regulatory and technical analysis related to pharmaceutical products Participate in trial preparation and appellate strategy Maintain documentation and manage timelines across multiple matters Requirements: Minimum 2 years of Hatch-Waxman patent litigation experience Proficiency in fact discovery, expert reports, and motion practice Excellent legal research, writing, and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple matters with professionalism Admission to the State Bar in good standing Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school Certifications: Active bar license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, preferably Illinois Skills: Strong analytical and technical writing skills Background in chemistry, biology, or related sciences preferred Detail-oriented with excellent time management and teamwork skills Comfortable working on complex IP issues with cross-functional teams Job Location: Chicago, IL Benefits include wellness programs, paid parental leave, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) with firm contributions, disability insurance, paid holidays, flexible time off, and professional development opportunities.
