Job Summary: Microsoft is actively expanding its data center infrastructure to meet growing demands for network capacity and performance. As a Level II Data Center Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of high-speed network backhaul systems, including current 400G implementations and upcoming 800G initiatives. This position is ideal for professionals with hands-on experience in data center environments, particularly in fiber optics, structured cabling, and network hardware installation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Network Infrastructure Support:
* Assist in the installation, testing, and troubleshooting of high-capacity network links (400G and 800G).
* Work closely with network engineers to support backhaul upgrades and ensure optimal performance across the Phoenix DC District.
* Hardware Deployment & Maintenance: * Rack, stack, and cable servers, switches, routers, and other data center equipment. * Perform diagnostics and replace failed components in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
* Structured Cabling & Fiber Optics: * Terminate, test, and label fiber and copper cabling according to Microsoft standards. * Maintain accurate documentation of cabling layouts and network configurations.
* Monitoring & Incident Response: * Use monitoring tools to identify and respond to hardware and network alerts. * Escalate complex issues to senior technicians or engineering teams as needed.
* Compliance & Safety: * Adhere to Microsoft's data center safety protocols and operational procedures. * Ensure all work complies with industry standards and internal quality guidelines.
Qualifications: * Required: * 2+ years of experience in a data center or network operations role. * Familiarity with high-speed networking technologies (400G, 800G, DWDM). * Proficiency in fiber optic cabling, structured cabling, and hardware installation. * Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and cabling schematics.
* Preferred: * Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Network+, or Cisco CCNA. * Experience with Microsoft data center environments or similar hyperscale operations. * Knowledge of environmental monitoring systems and remote management tools.
Physical Requirements: * Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs. * Comfortable working in high-density server environments and confined spaces. * Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends as needed. *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr.
