Overview
Join United Rentals, the world’s largest equipment rental provider. The Customer Digital Technology team delivers key strategic objectives; this role ensures software systems integrate and scale to render industry-leading user experiences. You will contribute across software development phases, collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders at all levels, and work on software projects with tangible real-world impact. This role is based in one of our corporate offices (Stamford, CT; Kansas City, MO; or Scottsdale, AZ) as a hybrid role.
What you’ll do
Act as the primary technical point of contact for a broad range of software enhancements
Help build an end-to-end understanding of technical interfaces for the company website and the mobile app with an emphasis on ecommerce
Clarify business requirements and translate technical specifications for development
Ensure scalability and performance of digital technology platforms
Assist in all phases of development and deployment of system enhancements
Work closely with cross-functional teams to align technology solutions with strategic objectives
Perform root cause analysis across system call chains for issues reported
Conduct technical assessments and provide recommendations for system improvements
Test new or modified application functionality, verifying business and technical requirements
Testing processes to ensure that solution delivery matches the desired functionality
Perform tests to avoid performance issues, including any effects from system development
Create and maintain technical documentation including: support knowledge base, data sources, data flows, application logic, enhancement/issue logs, hardware/software architecture, and other project documents
Follow and research industry trends and perform best-practice research to support project goals
Responsible for other tasks related to assigned systems
Requirements
3+ years in programmer analyst or systems analyst role
Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Science or Business or Equivalent Experience
Effectively communicate concepts with vendors, customers, team members and management, both verbal and written
Balance a self-motivated, independent work ethic with cross-functional collaboration
Experience with database systems and SQL programming (SQL Server, DB2)
Hands-on software troubleshooting experience and application of critical thinking
Good working knowledge of data modeling and ETL concepts
Good project management and documentation abilities
Experienced with Word, PowerPoint, Excel and related productivity tools
Hybrid work – expected schedule of: M, F remote; Tu, W, Th in office
