South College Nashville is seeking a Dental Hygiene Program Director to jump in and grow our already thriving Dental Hygiene Program. The Program Director has full control and oversight of all three Dental Programs. These programs admit students twice a year in the Spring and Fall quarters, with cohorts in Dental Assisting reaching a maximum of 24 students and cohorts in Dental Hygiene reaching a maximum of 40 students.

The Program Director will provide instruction and implement the Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting programs, educating students in the study of dental hygiene and dental assisting in accordance with the Commission on Dental Accreditation curriculum standards and objectives.

All the observatories are from Henry Schein, ADEC equipment, etc. State-of-the-art equipment.
Responsibilities
Prepare lectures and practical demonstrations for students in class and individually.
Implement and evaluate daily lesson plans.
Demonstrate and assist students with lab procedures and ensure safety precautions are adhered to.
Plan instruction to achieve specific objectives and established curriculum.
Review student success rates and implement plan to reduce student withdrawals. Meet with students to encourage them to stay in the program.
Maintain an 95% student success rate for all classes taught in the program.
Maintain student grades and prepare final grades at the end of each sequence to update student records and transcripts.
Evaluate student performance and achievements in curriculum and activities.
Make necessary provisions to meet learning needs.
Arrange and coordinate guest speakers, community service field trips, and visits to clinics and dental offices.
Assist and advise students with Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting program curricula.
Monitor student academic progress.
May assist and coordinate externships for Dental Assisting students.
Requirements
Education
Graduation from an accredited Dental Hygiene or Dental Assisting program and five years of occupational experience as a Dental Hygienist or Dental Assistant.
Master’s degree in a related field.
Licensure
Current CPR Certification.
Current licenses, certifications, or other designations as required by local, state, or federal laws to work in the Dental Hygienist/ Dental Assistant field.
Experience
Proficient in didactic and clinical four-handed dentistry.
Possess current knowledge and experience in Dental Hygiene and/or Dental Assisting.
Aware of state requirements governing Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting programs.
Possess credential offered by the Dental Assisting National Board or the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination.
