The
Executive Director of PK-16 Curriculum Design
supports the development and implementation of a district-wide Tier 1 curriculum, instructional framework, and assessment strategy to ensure intentional and targeted on-grade-level curriculum for students in the core content areas.
Responsibilities
Support the development and implementation of a district-wide Tier 1 curriculum, instructional framework and assessment strategy that ensures intentional and targeted on-grade-level curriculum for students in the core content areas.
Manage all key structures and functions of the Tier 1 curricular system, such as the universal screener and the digital system for tracking individual student academic plans, including root-cause analysis, intervention or acceleration selection, goal setting, and progress monitoring. Provide appropriate data analysis, feedback/coaching, and professional learning support to effectively implement all systems related to Tier 1 grade-level content support at the campus, classroom and student levels.
Work closely with regional associate superintendents, executive directors, and identified school principals and their leadership teams to increase and accelerate the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the instructional service delivery system for students; with the aim of significantly increasing student achievement across all student groups, close the achievement gap, and meet school and district goals and targets.
Collaboratively enhance and provide high-quality district-wide curriculum in reading language arts, math, social studies, and science within the district digital platform; use appropriate data sources to guide curriculum decisions to support strengths and focus areas for students; ensure the curriculum contains high-quality resources, culturally diverse texts, responsive practices, technology-enhanced curricular elements, and is aligned across the four core areas as well as with curricular needs across divisions.
Collaborate with regional instructional support teams to provide instructional recommendations, strategies and support, including coaching, to high-need schools on best practices in data-driven, highly effective standards-based differential instruction.
Work with the Chief of Academic Services and School Leadership to identify and deploy necessary supports and prescriptive elements, which may include curriculum adjustments, data-driven instruction, professional development, coaching, peer instructional walks, vertical and horizontal articulation, vertical team programs, training and leadership development as needed.
Provide regular reports to the Chief of Academic Services, the Deputy Academic Chiefs, and Associate Superintendents on Tier 1 grade-level core content progress and make recommendations to ensure continual improvement as measured by pre-established metrics.
Ensure compliance of assigned schools with all pertinent federal, state, and local policies, procedures, regulations and requirements, providing training as needed to ensure both procedural and performance compliance.
Assist with setting district-wide student achievement performance targets that integrate into the District's Action Plan as it is developed, executed, monitored and evaluated.
Qualifications
Required Master's degree from an accredited university.
Required Valid Texas Teacher Certificate with required endorsements for the subject and subject level assigned.
Required Texas Standard Principal Certificate or Mid-Management Certificate.
Required 10+ years of directly related experience.
Advanced knowledge of effective principles and practices of management, instructional theory and practice, including the assessment of instruction, K-12 curricula, school-centered decision-making, functions and operations of a large public school district, and the change process within organizations.
Ability to understand school building operations, needs, and concerns.
Demonstrated exceptional character, personality, and proper social capability to relate effectively with racially and ethnically diverse staff, students, and their families.
Ability to meet the communications diversity of the community and district, staff members and the public at large.
Ability to write reports and planning documents requiring technical precision, accuracy, readability and editorial correctness.
Ability to function effectively with all levels of management within and across the district.
