About the Work As an experienced Systems Engineer you will be responsible for supporting all of Nuro IT team’s Linux, virtualization, and infrastructure automation efforts while collaborating with a lean-but-mighty team in our primary mission: keeping the vast amounts of data needed to meet Nuro’s mission flowing. You will also provide support for an IT-focused engineering development environment by administering engineering-related systems for product development.
Your daily responsibilities will include corporate IT resource monitoring, deployment, and incident management. You will also design Nuro’s IT workflows and automate them with scripting / programming.
Administering and mentoring team members in AWX workflows (creating or improving as required)
Respond to requests from other teams at Nuro related to Linux and cloud infrastructure issues and planning
Adhere to and define security policies including areas such as system policy, and access control with directory system
Assist team members as needed in areas outside of Linux configuration and virtualization, including but not limited to VDI, IaC
Creating and monitoring metrics for corporate systems
Record events and problems and their resolution in tickets
About You
Experience with Linux operating systems (Ubuntu a plus) and virtualization technology
Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) principles and technologies such as Terraform
Experience with remote administration and configuration tooling such as Ansible
Experience with working with cloud environments such as GCS, AWS
Familiarity with SSL, SSH, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, general knowledge of encryption
Familiarity with security concepts for enterprise system solutions
5+ years of experience in systems engineering
In-depth knowledge of Linux, computer architecture, and/or cybersecurity
Hands-on experience with managing local and/or cloud clusters/servers
Hands-on experience with Proxmox preferred
Directory Service implementation/administration experience preferred
Ability to write system administration automation scripts in shell, Python, or PERL
Knowledge of Jira, Jenkins, Confluence, Google Workspace Apps
At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected base pay range is between $138,000 and $207,000 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
