Responsibilities The APP is a licensed medical provider (NP/PA) who functions as part of a multidimensional physician-led health care team. The APP aids in the management, under the supervision of an attending neurosurgeon/physician, of patients with neurosurgical conditions. This includes outpatient, inpatient, peri-operative and intra-operative care. A major role of the APP is to be the patient advocate in the medical system. Additionally, the APP extends the services of his/her attending surgeon/physician by: acting as a liaison for their supervising physician, obtaining histories, performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting imaging, laboratory and other diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, brace and therapies, performing and assisting in common neurosurgical bedside/office procedures, as well as assisting in the operating room.

Shift Full time - 40 hours a week, M-F - weekend requirement, no holidays!
Experience
Physician Assistant - Two (2) years’ experience as physician assistant or Board eligible graduate preferred. Demonstrated ability to work independently in an interdisciplinary environment
Nurse Practitioner - Two (2) years’ experience as Nurse Practitioner preferred. A minimum of two years nursing experience in specific clinical area preferred.
Education
Physician Assistant - Bachelor’s degree or more is required. Must be a graduate of an accredited physician assistant/surgical assistant program.
Licensure/Certifications Physician Assistant
Must be certified or new graduate who is eligible for certification by the NCCPA (National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants).
Active license with Pennsylvania State Board of Medical Education and Licensure.
Nurse Practitioner
Completion of a Nurse Practitioner program required.
MSN required.
Must be Licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nurse Examiners as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP).
Active license with Pennsylvania State Board of Medical Education and Licensure.
For Both Physician Assistants And Nurse Practitioners
BLS certification required.
ACLS certification required.
ENLS certification is highly recommended.
ATLS certification recommended.
Successful completion of the MLH credentialing process through the Medical Staff office, with temporary or permanent privileges approved.
This position requires you to wear a respirator as part of the job requirement.
