We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Product Owner Director to join our Single-Family Division and lead the development of new Mortgage Loan Products and optimization of existing Loan Products. This leadership role involves strategic planning, product innovation, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure the mortgage portfolio aligns with market demands and company objectives. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in the primary and secondary mortgage markets to identify opportunities within our current loan product offerings and propose innovative solutions. This role requires a strategic thinker who can advocate for changes that enhance our credit policy framework, ensuring it aligns with Freddie Mac’s goals of accessibility and sustainability in the housing market.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Innovation

Develop and implement a comprehensive mortgage loan product strategy that drives borrower experience, growth and profitability.

Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive products to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.

Lead the ideation and creation of new mortgage products and enhancements to existing offerings.

Product Management

Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of mortgage products, including concept initiation, development, launch, and post-launch evaluation.

Establish product performance metrics and regularly assess products against these metrics.

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with organizational policies.

Cross-Functional Leadership

Collaborate with sales, operations, and risk management to ensure cohesive product development and delivery.

Serve as the primary liaison between business units to communicate product vision and goals.

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

Engage with key stakeholders, including senior management, to align product strategy with business objectives.

Gather and analyze feedback from customers and internal stakeholders to refine products and improve customer satisfaction.

Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, such as fintech companies and industry groups, to ensure competitive positioning.

Financial Management

Monitor and report on the financial performance of mortgage products, including profitability, return on investment, and cost management.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred

12+ years Mortgage Industry experience and 4+ years management experience

Understanding of mortgage origination process, including capital markets

Prior experience in a Product Management role with demonstrated examples of delivery; strategic mindset with a track record of driving change and Product innovation

Strong business judgment and decision-making skills; ability to identify, prioritize, and articulate highest impact initiatives

Excellent communication skills, with ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise fashion to technical and non-technical audiences at all levels

Time-type: Full time FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary information: This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $195,000 - $293,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
